Reasonable/Unreasonable

A definition of reason.


Reasonable

To be reasonable is to be ALL (conjuctive) of:

  • rational - to hold logically consistent beliefs and values
  • skeptical - to believe only what the evidence suggests
  • corrigible - able to be corrected
  • fallible - capable of making mistakes
  • cooperative - willing to work together for mutual benefit
  • considerate - consciously thoughtful of other agents

In other words, not unreasonable


Unreasonable

To be unreasonable is to be ANY (disjunctive) of:

  • irrational - to hold logically inconsistent beliefs and values
  • credulous - to believe without or in spite of evidence
  • incorrigible - resistant to being corrected
  • infallible - incapable of making mistakes
  • uncooperative - unwilling to work together for mutual benefit
  • inconsiderate - thoughtless towards other agents

In other words, not reasonable
